This month’s film “War Made Easy” (2007) exposes the 50-year pattern of government and media spin that has dragged the United States into one war after another from Vietnam to Iraq. Narrated by actor and activist Sean Penn, the film exhumes remarkable archival footage of official distortion and exaggeration from LBJ to George W. Bush, revealing in stunning detail how the American news media have uncritically disseminated the pro-war messages of successive presidential administrations. Made in 2007, the film continues it’s relevance today, as the US engages in continuous wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen.

The Peace and Justice Center of Nevada County has been raising awareness to the many issues Americans face today, and presenting documentary films to the public for over 15 years. Among the Peace Center’s programs are peace recruiting in our local high schools that seek to balance military recruitment. Our children should have complete information to make decisions about serving in today’s armed services.
